Making carts

Have any of you ever made your own cart? If so how do you do it? How do you make sure its balanced, so it isnt to much weight on the minis back? Have you ever done local shows in your home made cart?

Is there some where that I could get a patten for a cart?

My dad saw someones driving cart at a show that he went to watch me and said that he could make me one! But i want to be sure that he does it right so it wont hurt my baby girl
