I've got a mare that wouldn't catch last year so I had her thyroid checked. It is 1.11. So it's just a little low. (I think the regular is 1.4-1.5) She's on 1/4 tsp of the meds.

Is this low enough for her to keep from getting pregnant?

(vet also did a culture just in case)

It might be low enough to keep her from catching in foal, but then again...

A research vet that I talked to at the WCVM Saskatoon last year said he's had mares that have tested at near 0 on their T4 levels, yet they have still carried and delivered perfectly healthy foals. So, he said, he doesn't put much stock in the T4 tests.
