I have no idea what Saber use to weight.
He's 32" and 210lbs now...
loosing the blubber he lost 1/2 an inch in height too
As for how to get it off well 1 thing was Saber was being extremely overfed at his previous home.
On the day we brought him home he was pooping like a full sized horse in both size & quantity!
We started exercising him mostly by taking him on walks.
Often loading him in the van and going somewhere and just walking.
He enjoys travelling.
Here Saber gets Alfalfa/Bermuda pellets, Grass hay (it varies), Platform & Oats (with Red Cell).
In the morning he gets Flax Seed in the night he gets a lil psyllium.
When out on walks I keep a treat pouch of carrot pieces on me.
For snacks we give him more treats with moisture like apples, carrots, carrot tops, lettuce
and sometimes a lil celery here and there.
Yes, he does get other stuff (corn, puffed corn, O,A&M, barley, bran mash..) and junk food (croissants, biscuits, Nilla Wafers, donuts, french fries, angel food cake, ice cream..) too but in moderation.
This is a typically schedule:
b'fast around 5:30am (pellets & platform)
a cup of oats around 7:30 or 8:30 (during pen cleaning)
mid day an apple (1- 2pm)
dinner around 5:30pm (pellets)
and at 8:30pm a bucket full of hay
Yes, the amount of food was lower than he was having but since he was getting food
fairly frequently he took to his diet better.
Plus I think it was better for him healthwise this way.
