Had a lot of fun working on the Japanese Castle yesterday. Added a lot of highlights...though they are hard to see in this photo.

Started working on the Stone base, of the castle.... will take me about 6 hours in total to Ink in the foundation, not including adding color later on.

It's looking great!

What a beautiful place, I can just imagine how stunning it would be in person!

Working on the right half of the Castle now. Stone work and adding color.
The detail in this piece, is making the work go slow but I am enjoying it.

Still deciding on what color to make the roof tiles. Normally I am a lot more decisive on these kind of decisions. But it is really hard to make out their color with Darling Husband's photographs.

This is Kumamoto Castle in Kyushu, Japan.

The photos my Husband took, were in winter and there was a big tree right in front of the main part of the castle.
I decided not to paint the tree, as it distracted from the beautiful castle.

Architecture is especially challenging. Your palace is amazing. Perhaps you could find the building on the internet and get a realistic idea of what color the local roof tiles would be.

Thank you so much Marsha!

Someone I know, has lived in that area... she just sent me a photo of the roof tiles! Thank goodness.
