Hi.
I’m joining the community as a soon to be miniature owner and as a current barn manager for a non profit therapy riding establishment that has in its herd two miniatures.
I’m looking forward to my little one joining the herd and becoming a therapy horse as well. He was born May 23 of this year.
I do have a question if it’s appropriate I ask it here…..
I have been seeing to the littles feed and care for the last 10 months.
With the current littles we have our Summer the Mini horse who isn’t responding well to our new hay that’s 95% grass 5% alfalfa. We have discussed we think it’s a bit more then 5% alfalfa. Summer hasn’t to our knowledge (she’s 14 current owner has had her 2 years) eaten alfalfa.
I’m seeking grass hay and not having any luck right now.
She and Magoo got a bit skinny this summer so we increased our grass hay intake and have been feeding them each a flake at breakfast, shared flake at lunch and each a flake a dinner.
In the meantime while searching for grass hay We’ve decided I’d start feeding her soaked Timothy pellets and beet pulp.
My question: how much Timothy and how much Beet Pulp?
She is 246lbs.
Thank you
Maria
