It's definitely a boy year here at Circle J (3 girls, 6 boys, one more on the way), but that's kinda the way we like it ... think of the driving geldings we'll have in a few years!!
Not very good pictures of these boys, but we'll try again if this rain ever stops!
Circle J Hello Dolly foaled early Thursday morning, a bay pinto (very minimal!) colt who is the spitting image of his daddy, North Stars Valdez Y Basan, just less white. This little boy decided to wait until he was 15 hours old before he figured out how to nurse, so involved a lot of feedings, some borrowed colostrum, and whole bunch of frustration and worry before he finally figured it out, and a big sigh of relief when his IgG levels were normal!! This is also a mare our vet ultrasounded and decided was not in foal ... we got suspicious a couple months ago and have been watching her ever since, this is one case where we were happy find out the vet was mistaken!
Outside stretching his legs during a brief sunny spell yesterday.
We weren't expecting Robin to foal for another few weeks, she's been foaling the middle of June like clockwork and had barely started to make a bag. But, after all these years, she's apparently figured out that you don't NEED the milk until you have the baby, and she's also becoming quite sneaky! Found this little boy tucked into a shelter this morning! Out of Circle J Robin (her 14th foal!) and sired by North Stars Valdez Y Basan, he's silver bay, and he might have some little socks and a snip ... hard to tell right now ... and he's SO pretty!
So ... any creative minds able to come up with some names that start with "M" for these little boys?
Also this little lady is still looking for the perfect name, also starting with M:

Thanks for looking at the new additions!
