one. I looked into some options last year and ultimately because of costs didn't go any further with it. Many people in our area have them because of our rough weather months and I've looked into renting time at one but most farms if privately owned don't want the liability or boarding stables only want their boarders using it or don't want the liability and then there is the problem of appropriate footing when you want to be able to drive your horse safely. Many of the hunter jumper arenas are just too deep and soft. The trainer we work with has a very nice one but since she is 1.5 hours away it just isn't realistic to go there more than a couple of times a much.
I've learned so much via the forum including that we paid a lot to have our barn built years ago by a big commercial company in comparison to the cute barns I've seen by forum members that are far nicer, cuter and more personalized and also bigger barns built for less than half what we paid to have ours done so I am hoping a few members can give me cost effective ideas on doing an indoor arena.
I've looked into the Coverall builders and their competition/copycat Winkler Canvas and those seem nice and light and bright but still spendy - $25k - $30 for an arena large enough to ride and drive in.
Has anyone built their own or hired a local handyman type person or small company to do one that was cheaper? If so, I'd love more information and pictures too!
