This year again, with money being so tight, I ordered and gave my own vaccines, 5 way, rabies and wnv.

I skipped( by accident) giving one mare her rabies and WNV vaccine, and now she is bred maybe only about 30 days along.

Is there a safe time I can give the remaining vaccines to her?

I usually give all the vaccines before breeding.

Thanks!

Robin

Robin,

I am by no means an expert but we always give our own shots unless something ONLY vet can give (like Rabies in our state) but our Vet has always told us that for "normal" vaccinations that we should NOT give shots within 30 days of breeding or less than 30 days prior to foaling.. That is just our vet's preference so I would say if she were mine I would feel safe vaccinating her after the 30 day window

I would not give WNV while pregnant, at all, at any time. I would just wait to do the rabies during the pre-foaling vaccinations next year (4-6 weeks prior to foaling).
