I made a round pen and it works great! I have been wanting one forever, but don't have the money or vehical to get a pipe one. So I thought about what I had around the house.
It is the simplest kind to make. I have 7 fiberglass poles and 2 strains of braided electric wire. It isn't electrified, but shhh the horses don't know that. I set it up on grass and am letting two horses that aren't being worked in it graze it down a bit. I think I may end up moving it to an over grazed area of the pasture. I made it about 40ft. in diameter, which seems a really good size, but with a few extra poles it could easily be made 6o ft for big horses.
