I saw ScottyP’s post about the weather dropping temperature in another thread. I know in the Southern half of the USA, from about Oklahoma through Georgia, during Spring and around November there are weather changes that cause tornados.

How do you handle preparing for the animals if tornados or cyclones or such?

Honestly, we don't. They know by instinct what to do. Our outside animals, horses and chickens, have never had issues. We do try to make sure every one is turned out if we're in a warning so that if something hits the barn they're not trapped. Our property currently doesn't have a shelter of any kind, even for humans, our family of four gets into a small closet. We're hoping to add a shelter soon.
