It was definitely a buyer's market at the sale in Warsaw this weekend!!

Prices were way way WAY down. Bred mares with foals at side were lucky to bring $1,300. One pretty little stallion couldn't bring $200. Very well bred horses were almost given away.

I didn't get all the prices for the silent auction, but my broke to drive gelding brought $800 and was probably the high seller.

A Rowdy daughter -- yes DAUGHTER - couldn't bring $3,000. A son of Egyptian King sold for $925.

Very bad prices indeed!

The sale was well done by Nichols, and seminars very informative and fun. Every horse was presented by their staff or Jana slicked up and in a show halter.

These were the prices as I got them:

thats such a shame! i love the sale put on by the nicols but couldnt come this year. Looks though like there were still some horses that brought in good money. Im glad the owners did no sales when they couldnt get their prices. was there a big crowd??

Not really Mostly the consigners.

Kind of a bad time of year too, right before a holiday. Jana's mother just passed away a few weeks ago and I am sure that slowed them down promoting it.

I didn't consign because of the timing, kind of glad I didn't now.

That is a shame that the prices weren't there. I would have loved to go but didn't because I couldn't shop prior to check out the horses online. That is a heck of a trip from Texas to make not knowing if there are any you would like.

I didn't go to this years sale (didn't want to be "tempted"), but have for the 3 previous years, and it's always been a very well-run high class sale. I wonder if the move to the earlier time might have affected the attendance somewhat, so near the 4th holiday and right in the middle of "vacation time". I think the big contributor to low attendance tho, is the gas prices. If you don't know for sure you are in the market to buy, if you're like me you just stay home from the sales. That completely eleminates the "impuse" sales, which when you get there and actually see the horses are pretty much inevitable (we've ALL done it

So sorry the sale didn't go as well as it should have.
