Well, it's been coming. When she came to us 3 years ago she was on eye ointment and antibiotics for her eye problem. She was doing fine with it, wears a flymaks that helps protect it from the UV rays, it hadn't gotten any bigger or smaller, so the vet said just keep an eye on it. Well it has grown this past year, and even more in the last month. Almost half of her eye is covered by this pink blob, it oozes puss (ther is usually a clump on the outside corner of her eye every morning), I clean it and it doesn't get that way until the next morning. The vet seems to think it's cancer and wants a specialist to look at it. She sadi it will probaly need to be removed. I know it's affecting her vison now, but she's still eating, drinking, peeing, pooping and acting like Honey Pie. The vet says she's in good health otherwise. I will be calling the eye specialist tomorrow and making an appointmnet. I praying that she will only loose her eye and that she can go on, she's the only one here at our house now as I sold my other 2 minis. I guess my question to you is do you think she'll need a comapnion or are we good enough for her. Her pen is cattle panel and she knows the bounderies of it, and her other paddocks can easily be made the same way come spring, so I don't think we'll have a problem there. and we walk her all over town. PLease send her good thoughts and prayers.

Poor Honey Pie. I sure hope the specialist can help and it's an easy (as easy as can be) fix. Keeping you both in my prayers.

And yes, I think you guys are not only good enough, but great company for her!

I'm always one to say that every horse needs a horse companion, but with a special needs horse that gets that much one-on-one attention, I think they are just fine with their humans. Just my opinion.

Thanks Parmela. I did have a mare as a kid that was blind in her left eye. She didn't spook on that side at all. Honey is very attentive to what is going on around her and I'm sure she'll do fine. We do spoil her especially since I sold my other 2 minis a few weeks ago. She loves being spoiled, and that will never change as long as she is with us.

Please let us know what you find out from the specialist.

Will you be getting a buddy for her?

I hope all works out well for Honey Pie. Give that beauty a big hug. and keep us posted on what the vet says.

She never called me back. So I will be calling my normal vet on Monday to see if there is anyone else to call.
