Heya All

I don't know that much about donkeys. When can I wean my baby jack? He is three months old and he is driving his mother crazy. He seems to eat on his own really well. He is sold and I would like to move him to his new home before we leave for Nationals, so I would like to start weaning him now. I won't if this cause to much stress on him.

Any help you have I would greatly appreciate!

Donkeys are normally never weaned before 4 months. We had to wean one at 3 months as mom rejected her after we clipped her. SHe was eatting well and what not but it was not good for her and took a toll on her. Its best to leave donkeys on 4-6 months.

My uncle weans no earlier then 5 months.

I never wean mine before they are 6 months old, unless there is a absolute reason for it. Mine is 4 months old and is eating/drinking great on his own, but I think that little extra time with "Mom" means alot with the overall foal in the end. Corinne
