My mare Snip has a nice silky mane, but it's thinning so badly! I don't know what to do. I did put up a board where she likes to stick her head out to visit people, washed her yesterday and put leave in conditioner in it.

We have a show on the 27th and at this rate she'll only have a few wisps left!!!

You might try a heavy duty mane tamer. I think that Mini Express may have some...

I've been having a similar problem with one of my mares. I'm not showing her this year, but her mane's been thinning out and she's not rubbing on the fence.

Watching her the other day, I realized the cause. She (Lou) and another mare of mine (Goldie) are grooming each other on the underside of Lou's mane and down further on Goldie's neck, so Goldie's mane's okay but she's breaking off parts of Lou's from the underside...
