I had my gelding looking pretty good a few weeks ago. He had a bit of a hay belly, but overall not too bad. He's been out on light grass for 2 weeks and has developed a huge grass/hay belly. The grass is mostly gone now, so I am hoping that will take down some of the bloat.

Besides exercising him, how would you get the belly off?

I am trying to find a digital scale so I can start measuring out there hay. Where would be the best place to find one?

Also, should I weigh their grain/beetpulp too, or should I just "measure" it out?

Thanks so much! Erin

Yes, you should weigh their grain/beetpulp. I picked a scoop I was comfortable using, it happens to be a store bought frosting container, and then weighed out 4 oz, 8 oz and 12 oz of the different feeds I'm using and mark those amounts on the container. So, I know exactly what I am feeding by weight. Since, I had more than enough extra containers, I use a different one for each feed; I just marked the weights with a Sharpie permanent marker (which does rub off some after time). I have a digital postal scale that measures ounces, so just put the container on the scale, zeroed it out and then added the amounts of feed that I wanted to mark on the container (4 oz, 8 oz and etc). I weighed and marked containers for each of my feeds; as sweet mix weighs different per volume than pellets.

Hope this helps.
