I am working my second mini into driving, and it was interesting to notice the different foot action from my first mini. My first one goes straight--trip trap trip trap and his tail stays straight up and down. The second one is so different: his hind feet go into the middle then swing out, and his rump and tail sway. His feet stay straight, it is his legs that do the movement. It actually appears that he has better propulsion than the straight moving mini. It is very different to watch. Someone told me this is called "foot flight pattern". It is easy to watch the movement when one is sitting 18" behind a trotting horse (I use a sulky quite often)! If they were riding horses, I wonder which would be more comfortable to sit upon? What fun having two different kinds of movers!
