"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" --The Wizard of Oz.

How many of you know the real story behind the children's movie, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz?"

Unfortunately, thanks to today's modern "educational" system very few of us have a good grasp on history. George Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Is it just me or does it appear that we are on the precipice of financial collapse, reminiscent of 1929?

I remember my mother, a child of the Depression, warning me in the late 1970's that if we continued on the path we were on we were headed for another depression. Why is it a midwestern housewife could figure out what all of the twenty-first century "financial experts" on Wall Street could not?

Let me help you out a little. I am not a financial expert, (although I am good at pinching pennies) but it doesn't take a degree from Harvard or a stint as a robber-baron on Wall Street to realize what the real problem is with our financial system. It is not sub-prime mortgages, although loaning people money that they cannot repay is not wise financial business. The culprit is not high-oil prices and our failure to build new refineries, although worshiping the creation rather than the creator is never a wise move. It is not even the lack of "government oversight" -- as if more layers of lawyers and pencil pushers somehow guarantee honesty.

No, my friends, the dirty little secret in the American economy is that our dollar is worthless. You don't have to be a junior senator from Illinois to realize that our problems really began in 1913 when we turned the control of our money over to the un-constitutional Federal Reserve.

Our money is controlled by a small cabal of bankers who have succeeded in ruining the once-powerful dollar. The Constitution is very clear. Article I Section 8 enumerates that Congress shall have the power "To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;"

Coin money.not print it. Coin means a piece of metal stamped and issued by the authority of a government for use as money. We have allowed the Fed to trade our gold and silver for paper and ink. Come on now, which do you think is more valuable?

We are such lemmings. You see, prices are not going up as much as the value of the dollar is going down. "Need more money, America? Cool.start the printer!" Can you say 700 billion? On top of the 600 billion they already spent on the bailout earlier this year.

If you are like me, you remember the old "Silver Certificate." Printed on it were these words "One dollar in silver payable to the bearer upon demand." You could take the dollar bill to the bank and they would give you a dollar in silver. That is why it was called a "Note." It represented something that was owed. One dollar paper bill was equal to one dollar in silver.

Not today. In fact, Silver Dollars are becoming more and more valuable. How can that be? Wouldn't you think that a dollar is a dollar, whether it is paper or coin? Sorry, Charlie. In 1973 America stopped using gold and silver as backing for the dollar. Remember the jokes about "all of the gold in Ft. Knox?' Well, no more. Today, the American dollar is backed by nothing but the integrity of the Federal Government. No wonder we're in trouble. Ink and paper aren't good "hedges against inflation."

For years and years most American workers got cost-of-living raises. We were fooled into thinking that the cost of living was going up because things cost more. But the ugly truth was, the price of goods were remaining basically the same, it was the dollar that was becoming worth less every year as the Fed printed more money backed by nothing.

The house my parents bought in 1950 for $7000 is worth nearly $150,000 today. In reality, the house is not worth more, it just takes more of the "Funny Money" to buy it. Inflation, a direct result of monetary policy, has robbed the average American.

My mother never had to work outside the home. My father's factory job put four children through college. Today factory jobs have left America, Mom and Dad both have to work and the only way most are able to send their children to college is by burdening them with massive debt..usually from the "government" with interest paid to the "Fed." We are the Government. The government has no money. They get it from us. When you hear "government bailout" grab hold of your wallet!! The Fed prints more worthless dollars so they can charge you more interest. They don't even have to "pass GO" to collect their $200.

Remember, "government" means you and me. We are the one's who will ultimately pick up the tab.or, more specifically, our children and grandchildren. Proverbs warns us that "A wise man leaves an inheritance to his children's children." Sadly, we are spending the inheritance. America has been on a generational spending binge and the bill is finally coming due. Our children will be the one's to suffer.

"Follow the yellow brick road..pay no attention to the man behind the curtain..was a clear warning of what would happen when loose monetary policy became the philosophy of the American government. "The men behind the curtain" are controlling all of our lives. Those who forget the past...

Who elected Henry Paulson? Who elected Ben Bernanke and Alan Greenspan? Where did the Fed get the power to print Monopoly Money?

The "men behind the curtain" have us focusing on McCain and Obama but they are running a bootleg. Let us never forget that it was the House of Representatives that turned down the bailout plan. They call it "The People's House" because it is the legislative body that is closest to the People. Phone calls still work. We must focus on gaining more influence where the power is closest. We can regain control by "throwing the bums out" of the House, not by changing Wizards. If your Representative voted for a bailout, (s)he obviously is Constitutionally illiterate and has no business serving. Run yourself or find a neighbor who cares enough to understand what it means to serve the People.

The "People" flooded the phones. The curtain-dancers were turned back. At least for now. This guy gets it.

Back to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. L. Frank Baum wrote this spoof on the late 1890's attempt to reform America's monetary policy. Even back then the "bankers" were attempting to take the American dollar off of the gold standard. Baum wrote "Oz" to expose the forces conspiring to gain control of the economy.

"Oz is short for ounce, the measure for gold and silver.

Dorothy, hailing from Kansas, represents the commoner.

The Tin Woodsman is the industrial worker, rusted solid as the factories shut down in the 1893 depression. The Scarecrow is the farmer who apparently doesn't have the wit to understand his situation or his political interests. The Cowardly Lion is William Jennings Bryan; (Ron Paul) who had a loud roar but little political power as he fought the political powers of his day.

The Good Witches represent the magical potential of the people of the Midwest and the South (red states).

After vanquishing the Wicked Witch of the East (the Eastern bankers) Dorothy frees The Munchkins (the little people). With the witch's silver slippers (the silver standard), (they change to ruby red in the movie) Dorothy sets out on the Yellow Brick Road (the gold standard) to the Emerald City (Washington), where they meet the Wizard (the President), who appears powerful, but is ultimately revealed as an illusion; the real Wizard being just a little man who pulls levers behind a curtain" (printing presses).

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." We must once again come to the realization that WE hold all of the power. The Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion are us.

The Scarecrow was looking for a brain, all of the time convinced he needed "experts" to think for him. The Tin Man was looking for a heart, feeling he needed the "great and powerful Oz" to restore his broken spirit through government handouts. And the Cowardly Lion needed only the courage to fight.

It's time to return to Oz.

Yes Adela it is! The unfortunate part of it is that those of us that HAVE kept our eye on the ball and NOT participated, get to go along for the horrible ride as well. Worse all manner of marginilization are used against those trying to warn the divisively addicted populace as to the road ahead. Most often used by the ignorant, is the moniker "conspiracy theorist". Then comes derailment (going off topic among other tactics) in order to attack and marginilize the truth teller.

Those that have been at it for a while are able to easily identify when these hegelian tactics are being used and either counter with fact and intelect or withdraw as it is painfully obvious that fact and intelect will not rule the day.

This WILL go one of two directions.

1) Things will get so bad that the populace at large will hatch a second brain cell to rub against the only one they have been using and stand up united to say Not so fast Homey.

2) Things will get so bad the the populace at large will BEG the wolves to take COMPLETE control of EVERYTHING so that they can have "peace".

The former requires ALOT work just to get to the point where they can stand united and insist that the Constitution be adheared to. I mean first there's the reading part rather than being spoon fed lying drival. Reading of the Constitution, federalist and anti-federalist papers and literally reams of paper explaing precisely what was meant by our founding fathers when this Nation was brought forth.

The later requires nothing but fear. (Why the master fears the servant is beyond me,.. sigh)

Through-out history fear usually wins. I am very gratefull that our founding Patriots did not let fear win but fought with EVERYTHING they had. The disapointment comes when one realises that their supreme sacrifices that brought us forth united has been forgotten and squandered through greed in all of its permutations. Yes, this type of fear IS a form of greed.

Rights can not be taken from you. Only you can choose to give them up.

What I have a hard time with is still loving those that not only choose to give up their rights,......... but mine and my families as well. However I'm certain that I will continue to recieve Grace in dealing with this mind-set.

One last Payne(ism) from the same speech previously quoted,

"Gentlemen cry, peace, peace! but there is no peace! The war is actually begun!

Yes, our country has been heading down the road to financial ruin for a long time.

I certainly do hope we can get it headed in the right direction soon and IMO this bail-out is not it! I am so glad that my true hope does not rest in men but in the Lord God. "Kings" may rise and fall but He forever remains the King of kings and Lord of lords. I am confident that He will sustain me whatever comes. I just wish that the whatever is coming in this country will be more pleasant than I fear.

Do you think there will be enough people who will come around to the truth and stand up for righting what has gone wrong. It seems that so many people have gotten used to being pampered and think they will continue to be taken care of by the government. I sure hope people will start taking what is happening seriously. I trully hope more people like you put the truth out there for serious consideration. You chose some very enlightening articles for us to consider....I thank you for that, Mary

PS I am another that feels this bail out is going to help our country and it is giving away what some have worked so hard for to people who have been greedy.

Sorry Buck,

Didn't see your question.

I don't know. You tell people the obvious truth about "parties" being a divisional ploy, they blink at you and then continue to beat up the other party cause "they're the bad guys ya know".

Fear and comfort does not allow them to move beyond this basic hegalian tactic. At some level they know you are speaking the truth but refuse to critically examine the situation. At the same time they attack the messenger as a defense for their welcomed delusion.

Now if they did finally have the scales removed from their eye's, I think they instinctively know that they would now be responsible to and for this reality and would have to do something about it.

And THAT is very uncomfortable and scary to a nation of wusses. They can't even begin to get to the place where they realise that they VASTLY outnumber the wolves AND their armies.

On the other hand, one of the most exciting things about Dr. Pauls campaign was that his message resonated with college age folks and they flocked to him in a HUGE way! "Fairly balanced" and all the other "news" organs of the banker wolves bent over backwards to keep that little fact quite. If there is any time left after the destruction that WILL come after the obama/mccain dog and pony show, this up and coming group of Constitutional patriots will be a force to reckon with because we will not let Dr. Pauls investment and sacrifice go untended! Dr. Paul did his very best to work and effect a fix from within the party and we saw what happened AGAIN.

I was pleased to see him give his pledge and support to the Constitution Party which is quietly growing by leaps and bounds.

It would have been delicious to see Chuck Baldwin on the stage at the last "debate" (snort, giggle). He would not have even charged a cleaning fee for mopping the floor with the bankers candidates and he would be elected in a landslide! Do you honestly think that "they" don't know this? If they are so secure in their stands, why not debate him hmmm...?

As I've stated before Americans should be united under one party banner.

So Buck and in closing, I guess I would have to say no at this time. Until the Amersican sheeple

can shed their programing and think for themselves I cannot fathom a way for it to happen. The hegalian priciple of divide and conquer is one of the oldest plays in the book for a reason. IT ALMOST ALWAYS WORKS! And both sides of coin think that they are right while being so sadly wrong and used as pawns.

While it does insult my "view" of justice, in the end, this world is not my home!

Hurrah

I am so afraid that it is the second thing that people will choose. Too many have been dependent on the government to handle our country without anyone standing up and saying "enough is enough" We haven't had good leaders who have made the people live independently and as we are seeing more and more the government bails out the rich ones who have put this country in jeopordy. These are crooks that need to be thrown in jail rather than handed even more money to squander away. It is the borrow, borrow, borrow that has done the world in and there is no incentatives for those of us who have belived in saving, to do so. I am so glad that I was taught early on that money doesn't grow on trees and we must first pay ourselves before buying stuff on credit. JMHO Sorry I think I had posted before I was finished.

I have the same feel Buck,

Increasingly as the week has gone by and I have been reading "sign", my instincts are that the Obama side of this pony show will prevail. (actually this has been my instinct for months.)

We saw all the same signs when bush sr. ran the second time. It looks like the towel has been "thrown in" on the mccain side just as bush sr. did. The powers that be, long ago decided which "side" they wanted in order to continue the march to American oblivion and into a new world order.

Now a horrific fly in the ointment could well be an October suprise of some sort, but it really wouldn't be neccesary unless they are ready for another HUGE power consolidation and the resulting martial law. Curious that they are preparing a Marine division to serve with Northcom on U.S. soil which of course is in direct violation of posse comitantus. But hey whats the big deal as its "bidness" as usual now.

Did you catch in the last couple of days that central banks world wide are "following our lead" in "trying to stabilize their economies"? That the recession is now world wide? and most interestingly, that there are the same calls for more control over the banks in the vein of a "new world order" (their phrase not mine reminiscent of bush sr. aka Poppy)

Told ya they were all integrated and took marching orders from a central "house"

It has also been VERY refreshing to hear high level calls for the feds abolishment. Without alot more horsepower, it isn't going to happen but it is still refreshing and brings a smile ...
