What is the best way to clean the runs on a foal and what should I put on it to keep from getting chapped? She is fine just alittle runny and it is sticking to her. It is the foal heat said the vet.

Get a bucket of warm water, a little mild soap (baby shampoo, etc.) and apply if needed.. rinse and dry.. To prevent sticking you may also apply vaseline or something similar.. A&D is nice too..

I love balmex, if you use a glove to apply it, it is a much quicker clean up

My vet has had me use desitin(the kind used for human babies) it has worked great and keeps them from getting chapped.

Actually, I have been doing lots of reading too as Willow has the squirts. I've read that after you clean them up, even with some baby wipes, use baby powder to stop the chaffing. I'm going to try it tonight on Willow, along with some natural yogurt mixed in her feed and I'm keeping her off grass.

Good luck
