I USE FRONTLINE PLUS ON MY DOGS BUT THEY STILL GET LOTS OF FLEAS ON THEM. THEY ARE INSIDE DOGS BUT DO GO OUT SOME. WHAT IS THE BEST PRODUCT TO USE ON THE YARD?

I just want to mention that I would not recommend BioSpot as a topical flea/tick product. I put it on my Collie last summer and it severely burnt his skin all the way down his back. It took him a long time to recover. Now he has a very big, noticeable scar. I have never had that problem with Frontline or Advantage.

Not sure what to use in your yard. My only concern is if it got sprayed on the grass and then if you let your horses out to eat it.

We had a terrible problem with fleas this past year. I had previously used Frontline with good success, but this time it just didn't work (I think the fleas are getting resistant in my area). Anyway, we are using a bunch of things to combat the problem, and I think (knock on wood) that it's under control now:

- Advantage once a month on all cats and dogs

- Vacuum floors, wash bedding, etc. as often as we can manage

- Diatomaceous earth (NOT the swimming pool kind!) in the nooks and crannies in the house, and dusted in the yard (wear a mask to do this!)

- bug spray on the dogs when they go out for a walk

Good luck! Fleas are no fun!

My vet told me that frontline is not working like it used to so he recommends a new flea product they are selling called promeris. I tried it and it does work. Good luck!

It's easy for them to carry a few in from outside and those rascals can live on the carpet! I have used a spray from the vet for 2 yrs that has been the most effective I've ever had....Siphotrol PlusII by Vet-Kem.

I take my dog out, spray, stay gone couple hrs to allow to dry Naturally, I co-ordinate the dogs bath and Frontline treatment with all. And, I usually spray outside with liquid Seven "dust" product that night -- around house, etc.

Our winter was (thankfully) not real cold this past season, so the various "bugs" will probably be a challenge this yr due to lack of a really good "kill". Such is life. We all hate fleas, esp the animals!

I use Advantage on my girls and boys. I have never seen a flea on them -the indoor or outdoor cats and dogs-.

I've been using frontline for years and have never seen a flea/tick on my dogs and they spend lots of time in the woods while we are camping. I too just bought 6 months worth, I hope it continues to work.

In the house? I knew a lady who had fleas in the house. At night- She would take a bowl of water put it on the floor, keep animals out of the room. get a bendable desk lamp and shine it over the water. The fleas would jump to the light, either burn when they hit the light or drown when they hit the water. She vacuumed 2 times a day also. took about a week, but got rid of them.

I also use Advantage or Advantix and I haven't seen a flea in years! My dogs and cats would not know a flea if it jumped on them. I think if you are using these products and have a problem you must have a terrible infestation problem and you will have to spray the yard and bomb the house a few times and start with a clean slate.

This works best with a few drops of liquid soap.

There's a variety of natural flea and tick remedies, too. I use raw Apple Cider Vinegar, BugOff Garlic and Diatomaceous Earth (labeled for use on and around pets).

I have used several different types of flea stuff, and for me, Advantage works the best. I have used Adam's yard spray in the past, and it did a great job. You may want to think about a professional exterminator if your problem justifies one. Good luck, it is a hard battle to win, but it can be done!!!

Do you have to re-apply each time it rains? Just spent tons at vet and vet gave us Frontline but think he picked up one yesterday outside, saw it on him soon as he can in as he's a toy Poodle cream, and it was black ugh!

Can't stand to think of it so want to spray his fenced in area where he goes out. Thanks,Maxine
