(The dogs came before we began this)

Our "farm" name is Woodwinds, combining my musical instrumental specialty with the winds that constantly blow through the tops of our tall firs

Woodwinds' Mingus (after bassist and composer, Charles Mingus) - aka Mingus

Woodwinds' Thelonius (after jazz pianist, Thelonius Monk) - aka Thelonius

Viewcrest Pastorius (after jazz bassist, Jaco Pastorius) - aka Flash or Jaco

We have cats Santana and Jobim, plus Willoughby, which just fit him

Dogs are Hillary (after Ms. Clinton), Shadow (came with it) Teddy (came with it) and Sophie (I named her this, since she is such a little princess)

Well, creativitiy is hard for me so the nickname tends to fit the animal's registered name. I will list the nicknames first, followed by the registered names.

On the mini horses...

Jesse, Twinkle Toes, Studly do little (rarely used by me... normally shortened to studly.) - Mountain High's Jesse James

On the large horses...

Arab mare was known as "Star" or "the Red Witch" - Registered name was Starr Syn I believe.

Arab gelding was known as "Alpo" (long story, but he was threatened to learn what it sounded like to be a can of dog food being opened from the inside of the can! Hee Hee) or more commonly called "Blaze" - Registered name was SQ Blazing Sunn.

Then there is the retired jumper... Lots of names for him....

Stormy, Storm Man, Old Man, and very lovingly refered to as the Grape Ape (he is a blue roan appy and Loves frozen Grapes and PBJ sandwiches) and his registered name is Chico's Storm Cloud. Poor old man, he is 26 and well, doesn't have many teeth left. Poor Old Man...

Then there are the Siberian Husky dogs...

Jr, Monster, Iceman, and Glacier are all used as very loving terms for my sibe whose registered name is Ramro's Glacier Dream. And yep, he knows them all! The hubby wanted to name him Yukon Cornelieus from the christmas cartoon, but I didn't want to call him Yukon or Cornelieus or Corny or what ever else would have been made up.... So my special boy became Glacier instead to match is ice blue eyes that I love. He has lived up to that icy name. He got the name Iceman from helping to remove the large chunks of ice from the water buckets. In the winter you enter his kennel area at great risk of falling onto rather large chunks of ice. And he will take ice out of the horse's large water buckets as well. He just loves ice.

And we once had a sibe named Artic Wine. Well, he was commonly called Moose Man, or Artie. I sure miss Moose Man. His whole goal in life was to make everyone happy.

Artie was married to another sibe named Artic Shadow. She was also known as Shadow or Shad, and I don't recall if we called her anything else. I bet that we did, but just can't remember at this moment. (ADDED: I remember now!! Poodog! As in PooBear and whinny the poo.) Unfortunately these two passed within 2 months of each other from old age.

And then our little sibe who was so dear to us and passed at just barely a year old from liver failure. Her registered name was Sweet n Sour Candy... We called her Muffin Head, and Candy most of the time. Boy do I miss that litte terror.

Well, can't think of any other names of animals at this time... I am sure that we have more, but I am drawing a blank.
