I've been trying to scour the local archives on the web for more information on this old farm we now rent. Not too much luck yet, but I did dig out an old Farmer's Account Book that I found when we moved in. The earliest date on the ledger is 1929

That is very interesting how simple things used to be...

Cool that you found it...

Thanks for sharing...

It brings you back to a simpler date back in time. Wonder what they meant by 100 chicks? Did they hatch out 100 chicks or buy them I wonder? Also neat to see they used frames a lot for planting. Evidently they depended on rain (?) for their water supply? Thanks for sharing that I truly enjoyed it! You can kind of put a story together by just a diary....way cool!

That is so very NEAT!!! I wonder what people in that day and age would think of our ledgers now if they could see our monthly and even daily spending allowance on things such as food, dairy, veggies and feed for horses and livestock! Bet that would surely shock them!

Im sure it would because they for the most part grew their own and made up their own blends for their animals. My grandfather blended natural oats and other grains for many neighborhood animals all the grain was grown on his own ground. He then bartered that for other things his family needed.

Oh COOL! Very neat to read actual dated stuff from way back when. So neat to read what went on in those days. Thanks so much for sharing!
