I could swear I've seen them at shows in the classes where they have big wagons and teams of minis. I could just be remembering wrong though. Does anyone know of a place that sells a harness that looks like a draft style with the neck yoke and all?

My friends have a set of team draft harness. They use it when their matched team pulls their miniature Surrey. I believe they bought it at an auction in CO (Troyer Auctions). It was made by the Amish. I can give you the website of the auction. They have them 3 times a year. You might be able to contact Harley and see if he can put you in touch with someone that makes them.

Thanks, minimule! If anyone else knows others too, please let me know. I have two perfectly matched mares that I dream of making a draft team out of. Both are broke to drive individually in light harness, but I'd love to get one of those covered wagon type get ups, with a real draft harness rigging.

Yes, Minimules is correct on our source for the team spotted work harness. We are the ones she referred to in her post. Troyer also sells the collars you will need for this type of harness. They can tell you how to fit a collar/getting the right size, too. At the last auction in July, it sold for about $600.+ You can buy it outright w/o waiting for the next auction in Oct. but it might cost more. It is made by Amish craftsmen and is usaully shiny bio except for the lines which have a real good feel and are the dull finish for better grip.

I hope this helps.

WE BOUGHT OURS AT MEL'S HARNESS SHOP JUST NORTH OF BERNE, INDIANA. THEY WERE AMISH AND DIDN'T SEEM LIKE THEY LIKED TALKING TO WOMEN. TALKED TO MY HUBBY UP A STORM. THEY WERE $500 FOR A MATCHED PAIR BUT THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE COLLARS OR THE CROUP.

IF INTERESTED EMAIL ME AND I WILL TRY TO FIND THEIR ADDRESS, OF COURSE I DON'T THINK THEY HAD A PHONE, BEING AMISH.
