DIY Pairs Harness

Hey all I live in New Zealand and there is a shortage of miniature pairs harnesses here for some reason. Is there any reason why, in a pinch, two typical single harnesses can't be used in a pairs configuration short term? I have had a look at a pair's harness, and I may have missed some subtleties, but aside from lack of pole straps and addition of tugs, is there much difference? Thank you!

I am just working on doing the same thing. I am using collar and hames so it makes it a bit easier. If you have breast collars they really work best if you have rings on them to attach the pole straps and other items. @MindySchroder wrote a great blog post on converting single harnesses to pairs.
