If you submit mane hair and let the lab test for creme gene..do you just get the report that a creme gene is present or not..or do you get the number of cr present?? oNE OR TWO..

My testing results from UC Davis included the pair for each color test requested. In other words my smoky cream tested:

Ee - Black horse - one copy of the black gene so in the absence of agouti gene is black (but carries a red gene in the form of "e")

aa - no copy of the agouti gene (which, if present, would make her a bay)

CrCr - two copies of the cream gene (she had a buckskin father and a palomino mother)

LWO positive = carries the frame gene, though not visibly since she is double dilute and probably maximum sabino.

So phenotypically she is an all white horse with pink skin and blue eyes, but genotypically she has a base color of black frame overo. I always get the wide eyed stare when I tell folks that my all white horse is actually a black pinto!
