I'm not too sharp on this stuff!

I was just reading the color genetics site about having Destiny tested.

The colors I wonder if he could be are:

Liver chestnut

Smokey black

(silver but there's not test yet)

WHAT do I have him checked for? Creme? and Red Factor? and / or Agouti? All three? Does red rule out agouti, and vice versa?

Please educate me!

If you think he is smokey black you would test him for cream and red factor...if he comes up as no cream but is black based....then I'd assume he is silver. If he is red based, then you know he's liver chestnut.

You could test for agouti--if he is red based he could be hiding the agouti. If he is black based, then if he had agouti it would be expressed and he would be a bay (which I don't think he is)

Thanks, you two!

I think that once I get the results back, I may need to post them here for interpretation. I love "color" but there's a lot I do not understand.

Maybe one reason I've been thinking Destiny's got silver is that almost all the time when people are confused about "what color is this?", it's a horse with silver

Once I get Destiny's results, I will post them.
