color question

looking on a genetic color site I noticed in the overo section it was divided into patterns.....I hope I doNOT appear stupid..BUT...would a splash pattern be compatable with the LWO gene...or is an overo OH! an overo no matter the pattern..and safer to go with solids or even a tobiano...test test test...yup I know....

I am thinking of adding a mare to my farm and want to be selective and do it right this time.

Frame = LWO so you only need to worry about Frame crossed with Frame (don't do it).

Sabino, Splash and Tobiano are all safe to cross with Frame (as long as they don't also have Frame mixed in).

When in doubt test; test your stallions first, if they are negative for LWO, you can cross them on any mare. [iF positive then test all mares you wish to cross with the positive stallion.]
