I have a friend that just bought a gelding and his color is stumping me. I have pretty well settled on smokey black. His sire is Little Kings Buck Zeus and mom is WF Huskers Afterglow. His base color looks smokey black to me but he has a vibrantly red mane with a bit darker of a red tail. It was mentioned that he might be a silver smokey black but I dont "see" any signs of silver on him. Is there a silver smokey black? Does anyone have a picture I could see? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about color genetics and I just want this as a learning experiance! I would post a picture but they dont belong to me! Thank you!

This is my silver smokey black National Champion / Res. National Grand Champion stallion, Ericas Echos of My Destiny HOF. The presence of cream dilute on a smokey silver black is said to often inhibit the ability of the silver gene to lighten the mane and tail.
