This is our 2005 filly KB Fairy Tale. She is coming up on 5 months old. I have posted pictures of her on her before and I was told she was a silver bay pinto, just like her momma!

Well now she is getting a lot of grey in her, on her ears, mane and under all that fur (Yes, winter is almost here in Canada

)

Is she still a silver bay pinto?

Obviously with her having silver on her I would say that she is, but her mom has none. Just some black hairs in her tail. So then would her mom be considered a different color?

Sorry if this is confusing...color just confuse me in general.

Thanks

Dee

Here are some photos

Lots of fur already!

Hi Dee,

Your filly looks to be a silver bay to me too. Your filly has the same darker lower leg that is a give away on a silver bay.

Here is a few photos of our silvers. (sorry we haven't updated this recently, but we will this winter with more/better photos.)

Michelle who is the Pinto at the bottom of your Silver page???????

Yep, she's a silver bay!

Michelle, those are excellent examples of many of the shades of silver!

Silvers are like that! She's still a silver bay, but if you clipped her she'd look grey (silver dapple) and probably if you clip her next spring she'll do the same thing! But the red will come back in a few days.

Our are very hairy here too, Pirate's hair is 3" long already!

I agree, still a siver bay. What a worried look of her fat-furry-lil face!! How precious she is...I just wanna squeeze her.

She's a cute little fuzzy silver bay. She's just getting her winter woolies.

Enjoy the seasonal color changes with her!

I was just wondering...are you sure she isn't just silver sorrel/chestnut?? She doesn't look silver BAY to me. I have a silver chestnut that looks just like that and even has slightly darker lower legs (it just looks that way as the silver is mixed in with the chestnut...there is actually no black). I had her tested and she IS red. I guess I'd have to see her shaved or in the summer (i live in ND so I know how it goes! 50 here yesterday and our windows had ice on it after it rained all night but today it was about 70 so I was a little happier!). Just a thought. I remember seeing you post her as a foal and I thought she was a silver sorrel then too. I can't remember...what are the colors of her parents again?

Ohmt,

You guys would all know better then me about color.

This is her daddy:

Difficult to say but Dam looks as if she could be Silver Bay too- sire is Bay and White, obviously- Silver does not show on Red- Sorrel

Their winter undercoat is always a gray color.
