Ready for some color questions?

What color do you think this stallion is, and what do you think I should test him for? Silver tail and forelock, white mane. Large Star. 1 Amber eyes and one brown. Ermine Spotting on his pasterns and stripes hooves. Minimal Tobiano.

Sire was a Homozygous Silver Dapple. Dam was a chestnut Pinto ( I believe)

Here are some pics.

The only thing hes been testeb for is tobiano. Tested nT

I think silver bay, but I have been told Seald silver brown.

What do I test him for to be sure.

Thanks!

He's a silver bay, no need to test.

Unless you want to know zygosity... you can test for extension to see if he's homozygous black, and for agouti to see if he's homozygous for the gene that makes blacks into bays, and silver to see if he is homozygous for that.

If his dam TRUELY is chestnut, he's not homozygous for black. However, many silver bays are misregistered as chestnut, so unless you have good photos of her you can share, I say it's impossible to know without testing him. Agouti and silver do not show on chestnuts.

If you're going to breed him, I always recomend testing for OLW as well (frame)
