Good question. We're sending a mama/colt to Florida and the vet said that as long as the foals are "on" their mama, it's not required. However, not being one to leave anything to chance, I had one run anyway.

As long as they are nurseing you dont need one. But it seems like there is something about 6 months of age rule in there somewhere?

I know in the US as long as they are with mom its ok. However going across the border I wouldn't chance it and do it.

I have a 3.5 month foal going to Canada who is still nurseing. She doesnt need a coggins done on her.

I know that when shipping FROM Ontario to the US, if the foal is still on the mare, it does not need a coggins. It does however need an export paper. Not sure how it works going the opposite way.
