I'm on the hunt for a trailer because my two horse is just too small to stuff a 16 hand horse into and I'd like to be able to take the minis along too sometimes.

I found a Circle J, 3 horse slant, BP. I'm sure will need some mods for the minis but don't know about the reputation of the brand. Don't need the Taj Mahal but don't want junk either. It's a 91 said to be in excellent condition and they want $3500. Is that an appropriate price for that brand and age do you think or should I keep looking?

Thanks!

I really like Circle J trailers. My friend has one and it is great. There is a lot of padding on the inside, which is something I really prefer. We also have big big horses (16+h) and they always fit well in the trailer. Yesterday we hauled one of or big guys in a Logan (the only Logan I have ever used) and he didn't fit, the slant stalls were not long enough, a problem we never had in the Circle J. The trailer you describe is the exact one I want (!!!) hopefully someday I will have the money. I have no idea about price ranges, but it sounds like a good price. This is just my experience. L

I have a Circle J too, and I love it. Its a older moder , about a 1990, but is in excellent condition. Its a 2 horse, and we have hauled everything from 2- 16 plus hand Saddlebreds, to a large draft cross in it. The padding is very think, and it is very well insulated for winter, which I can completely enclose with all the doors. I have a escape door on both sides, plus 2 feed doors, sliding windows, and vents on the roof. I would love to find a larger version just like mine. When we trailer minis I can easily fit 3- 4 in it. I think the price you mentioned sounds like a fair price, if its in good condition. Corinne

I think Circle J's were the standard back when we were showing horses

in the 70's and 80's......we all had them, but they were mostly 2 horse straights......Very good trailer!

I think as far as prices it's not a bad price, especially if the floorboards are

solid, wiring is good and the paint is in good shape.......

Do you know about going around the floorboards, under the mats, with

a knife to check for soundness?

I have a 1986 Deluxe 2-horse straightload Circle J bumper-pull. It's been a great trailer. I've mostly hauled my saddle horses in it (mostly 15.1H, about 1000#), but did load my husband's 16+, 1300+# gelding in the trailer and he fit just fine (he did give us a dirty look about getting into such a small trailer, he's used to a 16' gooseneck stocktrailer). I brought home both my minis in it, and they both travelled fine in it. I'm training two 2-year old full-size horses to load into it; they were born on the place and with no need to go anywhere, I didn't get around to training them to load until this summer, they are both taking it in stride.

Well, I went to see it and decided to buy it. It's in great condition and they have taken good care of it.

Thanks Nancy, yes I did check the floors. We pulled the mats and I poked it good with a screwdriver, no soft spots anywhere.

One dent at the bottom of the door, nothing major but I can live with it. Everything works, good tires and it pulled great. I'm happy

Good job.......looks like it will do the job nicely.

If you are planning to do any winter hauling you can place

plexiglass over the open slats to enclose it and then just remove

it in the summer months.

My girlfriend had a trailer like and she installed it so it would actually

slide so she'd not loose the good ventilation.

Happy hauling.

Very nice trailer. I want it...
