Yes, Carl was here in RI, MA, NH and LI, NY during last week. For those of you who missed Carl, he will be back next year! We are really greatful to Carl for coming all this way from TX and putting up with the women of the Northeast

He was a great guest at our house for 2 nights. Looking forward to seeing him in TX at the Worlds.

I will definitely be having him look at our horses again at Worlds, and next year. He did a really great job. My yearling didn't need anything but our gelding needed a lot. Carl did a great job, quick, quiet and easy. He even did our 2 year old mare that is usually a nut case about things like that, and she was very well behaved. I am very critical about dental work in my horses. So many times you think your getting someone who knows what they are doing and it's really just some crazy or a farrier who knows how to push a rasp back and forth. I have had sore mouths, bloody mouths, etc. Foir the best couple of years I have been paying an arm and a leg to have the vets come and do all their fancy stuff with their electric raps and such. I was skeptical about this but I am so glad I did it and I will definitely be using him again in the future.

he was at our place a few months ago and he was great! had a friend here at the same time that home schools and he explained everything and we got to feel the mouths. we will also have him next year. he also treated my stallion that is having teeth erupt thru his nasel cavity- icky- but, they are clearing up and looking fine- don't think he'll even scare......joy'

How reasonable is he? I would love for him to came here next year. Plus I could probably find some friends with horses that will need theirs done also. Does he just do minis or full size horses too?

I picked Carl up at the Airport in Providence, and after that AWFUL weather that included HAIL, we arrived here on Cape Cod, my husband followed him around asking for free Dental Work....UNTIL one of the horses gave Carl some flack and Carl gave it right back......Bill was satisfied to just watch him from then on!

Carl really IS the KING! And very interesting too. What a wealth of knowledge!

Dru and Molly....(And Bill, who USED to think HE was The King!)

LOL, yes, Carl is SO awesome and I don't like anyone else even working on mine. I have never had any serious or wierd issues, but have had some that needed floating, or caps popped, or something. It is always so educational to watch him- you learn SO much!

He is a very amazing and kind man who truly cares about horses.

He does not work on full sized ones- Minis only.

And yes, he IS the King, LOL

Carl and Hunter, his son, were here a couple of months ago. He is great. I can't believe how he handles the horses. He had me hold the tail of one but other than that he did the work on his own. He pulled a tooth and I saved it......I think he pulled two but can't find the other one. I should post it ....it is crazy looking.

Carl is extremely kind and knowledgeable.

Wish I had had him for my Ima Buckeroo Too daughter....the so called dentist absolutely ruined her teeth. No way to tell if she has a good bite or not........she had one ...........................but he filed everything away. Just a warning to those who don't have references for an equine dentist (especially if minis are not his speciality)

I LOVED HIM!!!!!! I brought my minis to Cindy's this time around so Carl could see mine. I was most interested in how he treated my mare. No one knew what to do with her mouth, but he did, one look, said really not a big deal and took great, no amazing care of her. I was more nervous and squemish than my horses and he even set me at ease.... That says a lot!!! THANKS NMHC and VAL and DRU for getting him up here. THANKS BIG.... BIG THANKS to Carl for coming!!!! I look forward to seeing him in Texas and next summer back in NH!!!!!!

He does not work on full sized ones- Minis only.
I think he said to us that he could do a full sized horse but he only brought his mini tools with him because if he brought the full size tools it would be a lot more.

He was wonderful, even with our gelding who hates his mouth touched. A big thank-you to Carl for coming out!! He is very reasonable with prices and very knowledgable.

Rats--I would have loved to bring horses to him, one in particular. How can we find out before he comes so we can participate?

I'm sorry Carl wasn't able to do more farms in the area this year, but next year I will post here on the forum for people to contact me to be on his schedule. If he is not able to go to your farm, you might have to bring your horses east to one of our farms. Again, I will post when Carl is coming here to the Northeast again.

There are a few really good dental specialists in New England who are also veterinarians... I was very, very pleased with Dr. Erickson out of TNT Equine in Dover NH. She spends about half of her time doing dentistries. I personally would not allow a non-vet to work on my horse's teeth.

Nathan I wish you were able to meet Carl and talk with him for yourself. Carl is the design guy behind many of the tools vets use to work on teeth!!

Would I want just anyone who claims to be an equine dentist working on my horse's teeth? Nope. But then, there are many vets I would not use for medical issues either, and many human doctors you couldn't drag me to see!

I just had to join in on the Carl Mitz fan club. He is an amazing man and I feel so blessed to have have him do my horses mouths.

Nothing but horror stories around this neck of the woods with mini teeth. untill Carl.

Nathan, before Carl, I said the same thing you are, No way would a non vet touch my horses mouth. But Carl really was awesome. And I know how great Dr Erickson is because before Carl she is the Vet who did my horses teeth, and I trust her more than any vet around, but honestly, Carl did a better job for less than half the price.

We are blessed to have Carl go thru our horses twice a year.

Our vet of 25 years refers people to him also. As he says Carl has the tools, experience and knowledge to handle any thing he runs into.

No drugs used, always a calm and easy demeanor. You can't get any better when it comes to mini's bar none. :DOH!

Carl told me you guys would drop his name all over the Forum, but I think he actually gets a big kick out of it.

Now that we have seen how the logistics of a Carl 'regional road trip' works, we - Northeast Miniature Horse Club - will not hesitate to schedule him again for the northeast In fact we will probably make it a NMHC event, but will also open it up to non-members if there is time.

You can see by all the posts here, that it is well worth a bit of travel time to have your horses seen by Carl. I too, have always relied on my very competent vet, who even invested in mini dental equipment years ago, but it is definitely not the same, and my vet is more than happy to let an expert do the dental work. And we all know that minis have their own unique set of problems with their mouths. After all, you wouldn't go to your family doctor for a root canal, would you?

If you would like to be included in next year's 'tour', you can contact either Val (Meadow) or me through the club website www.northeastminis.org or our personal web sites. And of course, we will post here when we have dates and details next year.
