brands?

I saw a mini online with a HUGE brand on her left shoulder.....K-C...who does that and why? Just curious and...anyone seen this before? and I mean a BIG brand

I have branded several minis and I did it for safety reasons. Mine are so little that someone would stick them in a truck and drive off with them. But it is not a huge brand it is on their left hip. Aprroximately 2-3 inches tall.

I have heard a few people doing this. From what I have heard it is for safety resons and for keeping track of them. As for the size I have only seen little ones on them.

I think its more common with farms that have larger mare herds...such as herds of mares 30...40...50 and on up to keep track of them and records straight.
