I have a driving gelding that rubbed a ton of his mane off - and of course we have an AMHA sanctioned show coming up. Can the mane be braided for the driving classes? I thought it would look better to braid the little mane that is left - but not sure if that is allowed.

What about the forelock - can it be braided to keep the hair out of the eyes?

Thanks.

I think you can braid the forelock and the first part of the mane only.

Correct me if Im wrong but I cant find it anywhere in the rulebook!

Found it! You can only braid his forelock. No mane.

Alex is correct. you may only braid the forelock and if you have a pleasure or roadster horse you may braid ribbons in one braid at the beginning of the mane (like saddlebreds, hackneys ect) where the bridlepath ends.

I just wanted to make a clarification, as Alex posted, in AMHA only the forelock is permitted to be braided - there is no braiding of the mane allowed in country/pleasure/roadster/park/fine harness driving classes. It is acceptable in AMHR.
