This pic was taken earlier this fall of our two little weanlings. They shared a 12 x 12 stall with two feeders during weaning............but both want to share the same one. My husband designed the "feeder" in one corner by mounting a large plastic dog bowl on a scrap of wood about 6" off the floor. Then some 2 x 6 pieces of lumber set at a height where the little ones can get underneath.........but the adult mares are too tall to slide under or reach through. The height of the 2 x 6 can be adjusted as the little guys grow. We start putting a few grains of feed in the bowl when they are about a week to ten days of age.
They loved to slip away from their mothers and munch in their own private "dining room"!
