Well, Thursday when I went to buy some groceries, Safeway was sold out of bananas. There wasn't one to be had. I asked one of the clerks what happened to the bananas, was there a run on them, or did they not get any in on their produce truck? He had no idea. Friday I went to Co-op, and they had bananas, lots of nice bananas, so all was good.

The point is not that they're going to be extinct today, tomorrow or next week, but rather our favorite variety may be gone in the next decade.
