In one discussion about shedding and getting winter hair already, someone mentioned there was nothing to worry about unless you saw bald patches. Mine has one on his backbone right after the mane ends. He has done this before, in the spring, and I shampooed him with antifungal and put an ointment on it. We have had so much rain, that I am wondering if it is fungus or what? Is it a result of hair growing/shedding? He also has a patchy place on the edge of his tail bone, right close to the rump. No sign of parasites. Maybe it is a summer thing? I have shampooed with with the antifungal and used Animax ointment on him. Tried the Listerine on his tail. He doesn't seem unusually itchy.

Does he have hair in those places at other times? If not, perhaps they are scars. Maybe someone else has another idea for you.
