Nata, Tina and Jerry got home from Area V regionals yesterday tired, but happy. Nata and Tina's yearling modern pleasure gelding won his halter class, Junior Champion, Overall Champion, gelding incentive, and amateur incentive. The young man's name is LMJ's Wild Wild West. Thanks Lea and Mark! Dr. Taylor even made an effort to find them and tell them what a fine pony they have.
Jerry and his classic gelding Blackduck's High Plains Drifter won his halter class, and was reserve overall, and won the gelding incentive. Providence Earl Gray, his B mini gelding was reserve and reserve champion.
Just to show how something can click in a horse all of a sudden, our under,3 yo. gelding, ATS Talk The Talk was 5th in his halter, then came back and was 2nd in the gelding incentive. Till last fall, Talker was a stallion, then got gelded. He's only been to one other show this year, and his hormones were still "talking" to him, making him antsy and fidgety. Jerry said he went into his first class not really showing, but in the gelding incentive, he started showing himself, and beat horses that had beaten him in the previous classes. He is a loud frame overo, and a lot of people said we shouldn't have gelded him, but I am not against the coming out party, so it happened! Now that he's decided to relax and show himself, he is going to make a fine little driving horse!
Bob and Beverly Barnett (hope I got the names right), catered a fantastic Mexican dinner for all on Saturday night, and Jerry, Nata and Tina said it was excellent, and very appreciated! Thanks guys for such a fine meal when people are too tired to go out, or cook after classes and before the evening sessions. You don't know how much it was appreciated from all!
