Just wondering if anyone on here is going to the Sam's Town Showdown AMHR Show in Tunica, MS in August? The show booklet said that we could get 1/2 price rooms at Sam's Town, but when I called, Sam's Town gave me a price of $99/night. I looked up the regular price of the rooms for August 11-12, and it was $129 on the net. Did anyone actually get rooms at 1/2 price?

I thought the 1/2 price deal was til may or june somethime. But I heard it was still expensive. I hope to be going, I am partof the the club putting on the sow. We are very excited about it. hope to see ya there.

Hi.

We are going. Yes we ran into that also. The club has called them ,but no response yet. but if you go to travelocity there are several other hotels there with lower rates, delta inn, kings inn, and several more. Hope to see you there.

The show booklet showed 1/2 price rooms good until July 11th. I called before that. We were just going to bring a weanling stud colt (not weaned yet, so mama would have to come).......and we just decided that it was going to be too much money for one class. Not to mention that it's a 7-hour drive for us. So maybe next year we can go and bring more than one horse.

Good luck at the show Belinda! We will try to go next year!

Hi everyone, I am on the show committee, the rooms are $99 a night. At the time when we set up the show with Sam's Town (back in December of 2005) the rooms were going for $189. I do think they have a summer special that is runing $129. So no, the rooms are not 1/2 of what you get the rooms for now. We should have worded it differantly in the show booklet, but the differance in price did not come up until after the booklets were printed. Sam's Town is sponsoring the show, and we hope to be able to put the show on again next year, but without their financial sponsorship it will not be possible. I hope to see everyone there, we plan on having a good time, air conditioned arena, you go from your stalls to the arena all under one roof, we have 2 vendors already paid and lined up ready to be there, concession stand, and concrete stalls with mats (no horse should get dirty after being bathed)! Please remember this is our first show there, any small kinks will be fixed asap, we very much want this show to be a success and with another for next year!

Thanks Jill for setting these up!!!! :aktion033:

I wanted to add a small plug for Sam's Town, if you should stay there (which I intend to do) everything is under one roof. You have Krispy Creme doughnuts for breakfast, a huge buffet with just about every type of food imaginable for a very low price (in December we ate about $8 for one person, I think that included drinks also---all you can eat), the casinos, and a small shop downstairs. I have never gambled but plan on taking $20 or $30 extra dollars to drop in the slot machines, maybe win some of my money back for the show?
