I've mentioned before that the feed mill store I use offers the service of bringing out a scale to your farm so you can get an accurate weight on your horses. It costs nothing to do this and I feel that it is especially useful information with miniatures. It helps that their equine specialists is a particularly nice lady and I like seeing her when she comes to visit.
So here's the results:
Baby (~31"): 4 yr old sorrel/white pinto mare = 224lbs - up 4lbs from last year
Missy (~32"): 4 yr old silver bay mare = 263 - up 10lbs from last year
Izzy (~32"): 5 yr old smokey black mare (recently diagnosed with EMS) = 321 - DOWN! 12lbs from last year
And the best news of the day:
Cha Cha (33.5"): 15 yr old sorrel/white pinto hard keeper mare with diagnosed disorder that keeps her from absorbing nutrients, but we're managing with rounds of steroid injections: drum roll please!
****** 226 pounds **********
UP!!! *** 41 **** pounds from her weight on in July of last year!
I was near to tears when I heard this. I made her repeat it 3 times!!!
