Hi Everybody:

This will be the first AMHA western regionals Tommy and I have been able to attend and participate in, so we're VERY excited! The horses we will be showing there will be: Lost Spoke's Lightening Strike aka "Striker". He is our two year old fewcap appaloosa colt and will be shown in halter by Austin Van Wyck and Tommy Thompson. Mulligan's Run Bay Char De Neigh aka "Char". She is our yearling bay roan “Prince” daughter and will be shown in halter and Liberty by Paige Van Wyck and Tommy Thompson. And of course, Lost Spoke's Winter Dream Catcher aka "Catch". He is our four year old, bay leopard stallion that has made his mark in the halter and color arenas at both the AMHA/AMHR World and National shows and is now pursuing his performance career in hunter, versatility, and country pleasure driving. He will be shown by Austin Van Wyck, Paige Van Wyck, Tommy Thompson, and yours truly.

Ok, now it’s your turn to share if you plan to attend and which classes you and your horses will be participating in. It will be fun to meet and watch forum members.

For those that have been to Reno before, are there any great places to eat? Any good steak and seafood restaurants?

Lastly, safe travels and we’ll see ya there!

Going to watch and help again this year. Daughters new gelding will be ready by next year.

Im local and have eaten in almost every seafood restraunt in the area. I am originally from the coast, seafood is my "thing". By far the best seafood is the OYSTER BAR at the ATLANTIS CASINO on the sky walk. They have the sourdough bread shipped in from SF too! YUMMM!

Cant wait to see CATCH in person

Good luck you guys! We enjoyed meeting you so much will stop by and see you at worlds!!! I love your filly she has a neck and shoulder to die for. Kick some booty with Catch!!!

Not going but sending a ton of good karma with you! I know you will come home with LOTS of prizes.

I will say that I have only been able to see Catch once at Nationals and it was from across the ring- but I knew who he was the moment I saw him and he took my breath away. His pics are stunning but I dont even think really bring out the presence and beauty this horse has!

GOOD LUCK Tommy and Dawn and can't wait to hear how you do!!! Dawn, you finally got talked into driving in the show ring?!! GOOD FOR YOU! Dont you love it?

It’s disappointing there doesn’t seem to be many forum members able to attend regionals this year, but with the economy the way it is, it’s completely understandable. I haven't talked to anyone that hasn't had to cut back on some of the shows they usually attend or been effected in some way. There’s always next year though and hopefully more will be able to attend.

Thank you Darkhhorsefarm for your suggestion of the Oyster Bar, we’ll have to give that a go.

Being overly self confident has never been one of my strong points, so a big thanks to Marty, Mark, Crabby Chicken, Angela, Brenda, and Laurie for your confidence in our horses and in us. We are most grateful and appreciate it so much. It was great meeting Angela and Brenda at the Estes Show. Angela, I have never seen anyone show more horses in so many classes single handedly. My hats off to you girl!

Crabby Chicken, what a lovely colt your daughter will be showing and I see who will be giving Striker a run for his money!

Laurie, I had no idea Catch made such an impression on you. I’m tickled it is such a good one. You know, Catch is only a few miles from you and you are welcome to visit him if you’d like. Just remember to bring cookies or at least ask Austin for some, because Catch LOVES cookies! LOL. Yes, Austin did quite a bit of arm twisting to get me back in the show ring. I think you were at Austin’s early last year when Tommy and I began driving training and witnessed some of this prodding.

When Tommy began chiming in too, well, for peats sake, what could I say? Learning to drive has been a blast and having the opportunity to show another special spotty boy after all these years has been an incredible experience and a dream come true for me.

Thanks again everyone.

Safe travels to those that are going to their regional shows and we're looking forward to meeting up with some of you at the AMHA World in a few short months! Happy trails!

I will be there but only for a day and a half of the show. I will arrive on Wednesday afternoon and be leaving for home Friday afternoon. Need to play catch up with everyone. I will be staying in my RV on the grounds.

One of my favorite resturants in Reno is in Harrahs downtown. The resturant is http://www.harrahsreno.com/casinos/harrahs...tti-detail.html Andreotti's. Harrahs has two buildings that are connected by an over pass on the second floor. Andreotti's is on the West side on I think the second floor. The windows over look the street and the main lobby across the street. The link I gave you shows the menue and a video of the inside. Food and service has always been good. I go with a friend that gets us to the front of the line when we get there.

The last time I was there we went to another casino for a very reasonably priced prime rib dinner. It turned out to be a great deal with great food and great service. Our waitress acted like she knew me and almost had me convinced. I'll tell the story when I see ya. Hopefully, by then I will be able to tell you where the resturant is. There are really a lot of great eating places there. There is a great steak house at the Peppermill which is south of downtown. Across the street from the Pepermill is a place called Ruby River. http://www.rubyriver.com/ You can't beat that place and their twice baked yams.

If I think of more I will tell you when I see you. See ya soon.

Wish I could stay longer but my horse sitter is going away for the weekend so I have to be home by Friday night.

Crabby Chicken...It will be GREAT to meet Hilary, Lisa, and Mister and I'm looking forward to it.

Masako...Sorry your finals came up during the same time as regionals this year Masako, but looking forward to seeing you at regionals next year!

Neil...Thanks so much for your dining suggestions. It sounds like there are many to explore. It will be wonderful to see you again!

Only a few more days! Safe travels everybody!

You are welcome. I just remembered the name of the Prime Rib place. It is the Cal Neva which is across the street from Harrahs. The resturant is on the second floor overlooking the casino.

When you get to the show grounds ask around and you will get lots more suggestions.

See ya soon but look quick because I won't be there long.

I am planning on going but only to watch. Good luck to everyone showing!

Dawn I can't wait to see Catch!

Stefanie
