I have a weaned 5, nearly six month old stallion that just recently in the past week began coughing when he eats. This occurs regardless of what item he is eating, grain, hay carrots or apples. He did not use to do this. We have not changed his feed nor hay source nor any of his environment so we are a bit baffled by this occurence. His temperment has not changed nor does he act ill. Anyone know what might be going on??

I would probably want to have him checked by a vet if he were mine. That's an age that foal pneumonia is common and that could be his problem. I'd want to at least rule it out.

I agree, I would have someone look at him.... foal pneumonia, collapsing trachea, worms? Could be any number of things, and could be just a bit of a bug, but I would make sure!
