McCAIN: A spokesperson said that, and I think --

STEWART: And you take Hamas at their word?

McCAIN: No, but it's indicative of how some of our enemies view America. I guarantee you, they're not going to endorse me.

Says talking to Hamas is naive; two years prior, in an interview with James Rubin of Sky News, said that negotiations with Hamas were inevitable, and the current (Bush) admin had to get used to that; in 2003 had said that even though Syria sponsored and harbored terrorists, it was worth talking to them. I must say if this is true it makes me sick. I go to school with several that have came back from war. The damage that has been done will always be there, and I think we as a country dont do enough to try to help them back into society.

Danielle --

Are you as interested in your own Nation's politics as you are in the USA's election?

I never have seen anyone post as many topics (several a day) about something in which they have no actual say as I've seen you post regarding my Nation's elections. I cannot say I have any interest whatsoever in Canadian politics.

Too bad I didn't get the chance to read your cut and paste anti-McCain thread here before I so happily voted for him

Yes Ashley it is true.

That is why my brother who went to vietnam twice, was so mad when McCain looked into the camera during the debates and said " The troops know I love them". I am not even going to go into how much he dislikes him.

I do have to giggle at the some people's do as I say not as I do.

When a post goes up that quotes silly, non-factual, obvious biased or spun information you are quick to point it out and scold the poster on being gullible enough to believe such garbage but when it works for you, your doing this.

Jill
As a matter of fact I am Jill. I think I have mentioned before that politics is in my daily life as I work for the Government of Canada. Not only am I interested in Canadian politics but most other countries politics as well, European, the policies of the U.N. etc. etc. Just like you are interested in the money markets as that impacts your job and profession.

I have absolutely no animosity whatsoever in your election towards democrats or republicans that can debate factual issues or character analyses of either candidate that have been proven true. It's all the other stuff that I find ridiculous, on both sides, not just one side. There are many republicans on this board that have not gone to the extreme as some others have and I applaud them for that and I have the utmost respect for them and their choice of voting for McCain. They have exercised their right of "free speech" but didn't try and push the envelope with fear-mongering, and there has been an amazing amount of that here on the back-porch.

I only started this thread because of the other thread about Obama and why you would not vote for him. I just thought "fair is fair" and a post with facts to the other side needed to be presented.

I have made it known that if I was able to vote it would be for Obama but than as reported in newspapers around the world, most other countries would go that route because they see McCain as following Bush in his foreign policies and that has proven not a good thing for many countries. I explained why in another post where I mentioned Aghanistan and the Canadian troops and other foreign allies that are also there trying to fight the Taliban and trying to do something about Al Quaida.

My best wishes to those of you in the U.S. and share your excitement as you elect your new President. Enjoy this evening as you make history

So many things on both sides are taken way out of context and used by the opposing side to hopefully turn folks against the other or cast that 'seed of doubt'..... I am sure that there is a similar list floating around for the 'other guy'.... I get so sick of all the mud slinging and crap....

I do know that on the news yesterday- actually on the radio was the comment by Obama that to 'encourage' Americans to go green, he plans to 'hit their pocketbooks' with taxes and increases to force people to change because 'Americans like to drive their SUVs and leave the lights on'.

This is what we need for incentive, more taxes on an already 'whipped' nation that is topping the charts in job losses and foreclosures.

Thank you Danielle for making us aware of your concern for our country. I am so glad that you have posted during these pre election days for it shows that the fredom of speech is being used even though there seems to be a very few who think you have no right to say what you have to say. I think it is important that we keep our rights from being shutdown by others who merely disagree with what is being said. I think you are a very knowledgeable in the area of politics and you do care enough to give us your view points. Just hate to see anyone else try to intimidate another into not speaking for what they believe in. Again, thank you for posting your thoughts, opinions and facts. Mary
