POLL CROSS ENTERING OF ASPC/AMHR HORSES AT SAME SHOW

The issue I have with this proposal are a few rules between the ASPC & AMHR. The biggest one is the razor rule that doesn't allow for the ASPC ponies to be razored but does allow for the AMHR horses to be. Rather you agree the rule or not, it's still a factor. There are plenty of other...

    AMHA B HORSE

In no way did I mean to bash AMHA or AMHR, nor anybody inpaticular. I was only comenting about a few mini breeders that have purchased Shetlands and used them in their breeding programs without hardshipping and the one that have bought the Shetlands, havn't hardshipped them and are showing them...

    AMHA B HORSE

LaVern, I say the same thing about some of our Shetlands that we bred that were very nice and had all the ablitiy to win at the Congress, that were sold to someone from the "mini" world that wanted to start showing Shetlands. Then the ponies never seem to change ownership & some never even...

    BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Congrats on buying one of the best stallions I've ever seen. I had the opputunity to see King Lee in person last year at Buckeye Walnut Creek Farm. I had never seen him in person till that point. The pictures of him don't do him justice.

    REMEMBERING A HORSE

A couple of years ago, we lost my favorite horse to ananeurism. RFP Time Is Money, (barn name, Monty), was a ASPC/AMHR stallion. We had showed him when he we younger and was planning on bringing him back his 9 year old year. While long lineing him, I had asked him to change direction. Half...

    Training for Liberty

As a trainer that has handled many liberty champions in the AMHR & ASPC show rings, a great liberty horse isn't trained. Great liberty horses just are. The main training that goes into them is the catch part of the performance. There can also be training so that when the handlers cut off the...

Where to get pony size tack?

Herron Tack at, www.herontack.com, Ozark Mountain Tack at, www.minitack.com, & Star Lake Tack at, www.starlakefarm.com/tack, all carry a good verity of miniature & pony tack from haltes to harness.

    Letter to the editor

Added a line in our standard of perfection, (or any where in the rulebook), that excessive movement to be penalized or undesired is pointless. That is a very grey area as well. The ASPC has that line in a few different areas of the rulebook, (modern pleasure, classic & foundation), and there...

    This seriously bothers me...

I haven't seen this video before, but I've seen training similar to this done here in the states and worst. It's amazing to me what passes as training and who passes as trainers. But, I feel this kind of training & trainers are partly the owners fault. Some owners don't check into trainers...

Just got The Journal in the mail

Sandy, I know a few have felt that you have attacked them & the modern ponies that a few of us show. I hope you've learned here that, like any other breed, we do love and care for our modern Shetland ponies, (sorry you just kept calling them over minis). Also, like in any other breed, some...

Just got The Journal in the mail

This is SO true! And, of course, I've had them all in my barn. The past 3 years, I've had to honor to train the best modern mare, (at least in mine, the owners & a few other's minds), that there is, RFP River Of Time., or Wy. For those who say modern shetlands are crazy really don't know...

Just got The Journal in the mail

Well, for the most part our ponies are happy. There are a few that don't like being worked at all & there is a stud who isn't happy with me because he thinks he needs to be on the trailer everytime it leaves the farm, (doesn't necessarly like being put out to stud). But I agree that every...

Just got The Journal in the mail

Oh, and all of my ponies get shoes pulled and hooves trimmed clean after show season & are then let out to pasture for the off season.

Just got The Journal in the mail

Ok, I've been avoiding commenting on this thread but I've just got to ask this question. What do you consider grown up hooves or extreme wieght on the shoes? I know that in the shetland ring alone that everybody has a different view of what too much wieght is. I was told once by a known...

    AMHR Prefix

I noticed at AMHR Nationals that there where a few minis that had the same prefix/suffix spelt the same way as I do on their minis. When I went to the AMHR website to see what prefixs/suffixs that have been reserved that are like my farm name, I found out that mine wasn't reserved. I called...

Geldings VS Mares (and what about Stallions?)

I prefer stallions for a f ew reasons. Mares have a tendancy to be a bit "moody" and take longer o learn things. Geldings are calmer an usually learn easier than the stallion or the mares, but they are missing the fire stallion.

    Help with size

The foundation heel maximum heel length is now 1 3/4". It was changed to mirror the classics in 2008.

    Help with size

Davie did a good job of listing the hieght divisions and yes, the foundations are generally smaller than the other shetland divisions but ths is not always true. There are classics just as small if not smaller and the few times when a modern will be as small as the foundations. The only thing...

    Questions about youth showing ..

I don't know about AMHA, this is the rule for the AMHR. The rule is in a supplement from 2009, (on pink paper), on page 5. Youth 13-17 year olds may show senior stallions, (3 years or older), in youth or open hunter, jumper, obstacle & versatility. Youth 13-17 years of age may show senior...
