    Weight of adult miniature

....but I don't, other than a guess. I know there will be no one answer, nor am I expecting anything perfectly accurate, just a maximum estimate. Not only should I know this for worming purposes & feeding, but now a new issue. I just bought a new trailer, a really nice aluminum 2 horse. They...

Here is a video of a...

    Zooming like mad!

Bill and Hondo stretching their legs.... These two crack me up! And I love how Radar totally ignores them, like he is embarrassed to be friends with such spazoids, LOL.

Billy goes to town for a Pet Parade

Today I took Billy to a Pet Parade at the Assisted Living center where my FIL resides. Proceeds to benefit the local animal shelter. http://www.green-hill.org/animal_strut_pet_parade.html I washed Bill's tail, oiled his hooves, and sprayed him with Showsheen. He looked pretty spiffy, even if...

    Billy's being bad!

He is either chasing the dog, pestering Radar or tormenting Hondo. He is the pony version of Dennis the Menace!

    Clinic Report: Natural Horsemanship Groundwork

Billy Boy had quite and adventure today doing the groundwork portion of the Steve Rother clinic. Steve has such a nice direct and simple way of explaining things. He doesn't make Natural Horsemanship out to be so dang complicated with 127 step when a more simplistic approach will work. And an...

Me and Bill are going to school!

I have signed us up for the groundwork portion of a Natural Horsemanship clinic with Steve Rother. It is for 3.5 hours two mornings later this month. www.horseteacher.com Steve is a nice local young man that I have done clinics with my Tennessee Walker. His work is a blend of popular...

How to make a miniture mad...

I let the boys get too fat this spring, no way I am letting that sneak up on me again! So with the last flush of grass that the fall showers brought, I decided to get the boys grazing muzzles. They are none too happy, in fact they are PO'd. They spend the first 30 to 40 minutes of turnout...

    Billy update & the Hyperbike

Last weekend I had a (ground) driving lesson with a Connected Riding instructor (Diane Sept). I used my big horse since I had him there for the riding clinic, but I was able to take the information home and apply it with Billy. More outside rein and inside shoulder up....funny how riding and...

    Billy update

Time for a Billy update….he has had a makeover from head to toe. Earlier this month Billy got his teeth floated. He had no wolf teeth, but did have some sharp edges. After the procedure the vet said Bill has a perfect bite and very nice teeth. He also had blood work that came back good with a...

    I hooked Billy!

I HOOKED BILLY TO THE CART YESTERDAY!! He was such a good boy. He stool still as a statue tied while I fiddled with all the adjustments to get the cart level and the breeching correct. When I got everything done I untied him and led him pulling the cart around the arena about three times in a...

Is it normal to have to clip NOW?

Sorry if this is a silly question. I am a long time horse owner, but a first time miniature owner. We are having a heat wave right now in the PNW, it was over 100 today. All my horses (big & small) have lost their summer hair and winter hair is coming in. BUT, on everyone the hair is still...

    Fly masks

I am just now having trouble with the face flies. So bought the foal/pony size Farnam mask, crossed my fingers and hoped they would work. Well.....they are staying on, but they really don't fit very good. The crown piece is too long, but they seem to fit around the face fine. I guess I could...

    Inovale CDE OREGON 2008

Hi everyone, I hope it is OK to post this information and link. I don't know how to reach people any other way. On the the 4th of July I went to the CDE at Inovale in Philomath Oregon. Update with Before & After pix.....

Hi all, Anyone remember the fuzz ball little boys I adopted this winter? Hondo the bay is 34 inches, and Billy the fading black is 3i inches. Both are about 7 years old. Hondo shed out to be really pretty! Billy has that double mini coat so I had to clip him. He is really cute and a total love...

    Ride one, exercise two.....

Here is a video if Billy being silly. He loves to run and chase Radar as I ride. Sometimes he tries to bite my feet and he gets scolded. But it is a good way to get him some exercise, and it teached Radar to pay attention to me no matter the distraction....and it makes me laugh...

    Billy's makeover

Billy boy got a hair cut today. He is shedding, just not fast enough for my liking, LOL. I cannot do the entire body, still too cold at night. But I just had to see IF he had a neck under all that hair. Billy does have a neck, he does! His roached mane and cut tail is slowly growing out, he's...

    Playing with the boys....

A friend of mine, the one who gave me Hondo, sold me her new pairs mini harness. It is a made in India, nothing fancy, but a good beginning harness. I don't plan on competing or anything, just cruising around as a way to keep the boys in shape. I am working with both Bill and Hondo ground...

Finally a break in the weather to get pictures!

Radar, Billy & Hondo are getting along good. Bill's mane and tail are growing and both boys are losing a little belly. Bill is a runner, I have no idea how something so short and fat can move so quick!

    Miniature horse health care questions

Hi all, I have had big horses all my life so am fairly well acquainted with horse care, much I have read is the same with miniatures. I have been looking around the board trying to find answers to my mini horse healthy/care questions. I have discovered that Miniatures do not tolerate Bute very...
