    Expecting for 2018?

Who all is already excited about their foals coming in 2018? How many are you expecting and who are sire and dam? I have two foals coming sired by my red leopard CR Lakota Renegade, who is a National, Regional and World Top Ten. He's a son of Carousel Designer Legacy. The mares are an Appy...

    Easy Entry carts.. ?

I never should have sold my old Frontier cart, but I was not using it, so I did. Now I need another easy entry cart and have NO idea what brands nowadays are even worthwhile. Anyone have any suggestions for finding a good quality one- not those made in China - and who carries decent ones now?

    Coming to Heather Glen Farm.....

After an absolutely horrible start to foaling season this year (the worst I have EVER had in 20 years of Minis) I do have some good news to share. I really hadn't intended on adding another stallion here for a while, but an opportunity came up that I could not say no to. Bar B A Little Bit...

So excited my mare is driving! First show

I am so excited that my mare is now driving, thanks to Bryce Baker and Shawn Hester at Piece of Me Miniatures. He has done a fabulous job with her. She had her very first show after not quite 90 days of training and placed in the top half of every class. Karma is a fewspot Appy and a daughter...

    Another Appy baby- filly

Last night about 9 my chestnut Appy mare foaled.... it's her first. She was bred to my fewspot stallion. She had a black bay filly with a frosty roany blanket and I can see spots under the baby fuzz too. This filly is a 3/4 sibling to the black and white colt born on St. Patty's Day.

First 2014 foal! Put on your sunglasses!

Born on March 17th, St Patricks Day, and what a way to start off foaling season! This colt is sired by my fewspot, DRK Spotanious Combustion, who is not only homozygous for Appaloosa, but may also be homozygous black, as all his foals so far have been black and white. We will see if my theory...

Here is 'Spot' (DRK Spotanious Combustion). He is 3 this year. His first two foals arrived this year also, a colt and recently a filly - both loud black and whites. Just snapped a few pics while he was turned out for a bit. It was SO hot this weekend... after he rolled and got dirty, then...

    Smart phone info? Advice?

I am still in the land of 'dumb' phones, which is quite ok by me. My friend was showing me some features on her smart phone this weekend... and a couple of them could be handy I think, so am thinking of perhaps getting one. I have Verizon and would like to hear from you all on what kind of...

    After the fuzz is gone....

You may remember my little fuzzy foal, Masterpiece. It finally came time to clip for show season! I could hardly wait to unveil this little package as I had never seen him without tons of hair, and I was not disappointed. He now measures at 28" on the nose. Here's before and then after...

    New baby- Appy Alert!

After losing a filly due to a twisted cord in March, I got nervous when my other mare went into labor on March 26th. And it was a tough delivery... a healthy colt but with one front leg folded back. I was able to get him out enough to be able to get my hand behind his knee on his folded leg to...

    Surgery on my old stallion

Yesterday morning I hauled my old boy, Grays Smoke Signal, down to the vets for surgery to remove his right eye due to a cancerous growth. I stayed right with him from beginning to end- surgery and all. All went well with my beautiful 22 1/2 year old boy. He is doing very well- hates getting...

Ok, so I hear different folks talking about 'straight Miniatures' vs. Shetlands.... etc... Can someone please explain to me what a 'straight Miniature' is? Is this a different breed that came from somewhere else or exactly what is the definition please? Thanks in advance.

Help- orphan foal at 5 1/2 weeks

I have a friend who has lost her Mini mare that has a 5 1/2 week foal that is now orphaned. Has anyone had success stories for raising a foal - what did you feed? What to watch out for? Should there be any anticipated problems? Any suggestions are welcome here to get this foal to thrive well.
