    AMHR says she is black.........

She is adorable! I have to say, though..it doesn't look like a heart to me. It looks more like a flower. I think I would call her This Bud's on Me

To settle an argument (disscussion) about color.

He is a varnish roan Appy. Varnish roan...has a pattern. Like Lucky C said, you can see the dark markings on his face, and on his stifle and elbow. Bet mama is Appy roan and not normal roan. Unless you have actually seen the ancestors yourself, do NOT believe what is on the papers! I have...

Does a Soft Palate covering the trachea always mean death ?

My dwarf was born a noisy breather..sometimes it was quite loud! But, she outgrew it, and is now 8 yrs. old.

A horse coat of a different color. The rarest of rare

This is so interesting! I do have a question though...if you should breed her, when she matures, would she still only give one set of genes, or two? Or will she be sterile like a mule? Does anyone know since it is so rare?

A horse coat of a different color. The rarest of rare

How wonderful!!! Such a beautiful coat pattern! I can't get some of the photos to open, but here is a picture of a brindle mini. I have no idea who it belongs to, but I thought it was so unique that I saved it. It was entered in the online miniature horse show back in 2003. Does anyone know...

    Anyone ever seen this before?

lilnickers, I HAVE seen something very similar to this. Back in the early 60s, we had a mini mare (aka midget Shetland) that had a foal. She had been in foal when my dad bought her. She had the cutest little bay pinto..just like herself..filly. The filly had a bump like that one , only bigger...

    Our first foals

My Scamp started out with just some white hairs at his first shedding. And, then, as a 4- 5 yr. old, his mane and tail started roaning. Then, last year, at 6 yrs, he got 2 snowflakes. These were taken this spring at 7 yrs. So, it might take awhile..

    Palomino or Maximum White Pinto?

Well, for one thing, .... most people forget about this....but if there is white on the leg, the hoof will be white also. I can't see the other hooves, but that left rear does look white. What are the hoof colors?

Our first live foal for 2009

Congratulations on your foal! Here are a couple of pictures of our "blue" roan. This is what happens when you get too anxious and can't wait any longer. I clipped this small area on her rump when she was 2 weeks old. Then, this is what she looked like when she started her first shedding...
