    Advice for a new driver

Do you know how to drive? If not get thee to a trainer. Takes some lessons driving. It doesn't matter the size of the horse you are driving. I bought a mini trained to drive and assumed that since I knew how to ride I could drive. Well that just made me just knowledgeable enough to be...

    Sugar Rock Farm

Thanks. It is such a shame. They were really recommended when I got my cart 5 years ago. I will just keep trying.

    "Farm" work with minis

I have sued Ike for general yard clean up. I have a sled that I work with Ike. We cleaned up fallen limbs and yard trash. Here is a goat cultivator that could be used with a mini too.

    sell or keep my gelding-advise?

Everyone else has pretty much said it all. You have to drive the horse that is best for you. It is great that you have a talented boy on your hands but if what you really want is a nice steady eddy then you will never really be happy with such a hot boy. I know that it is hard to send a horse...

    Sugar Rock Farm

I have some unfinished business with them and can not get an answer from phone calls for e mail messages. Any one else having difficulties reaching them or any information. Feel free PM. I just really need to get in contact with them.

Old sheets are SO handy aren't they? I don't need to make one now, I just wondered. That is good to know that they are fairly simple to do.

    Making a lash?

I have not tried it, but I say give it a whirl. Study the lash and then off to the craft store and see if they have anything similar. I am not sure how to make the material stiffer like a lash, maybe watered down glue?

    A team

I guess this is the part that I have a little difficulty with. I suck a judging distances. I guess I just have to figure out how many trotting steps my horse takes in certain number of feet, such as 16, since my fence posts are 8 feet apart. Then hope they have fence post about the same distance.

    A team

Thanks. I am still working on driving single. I got to drive a team awhile back and it was just fun. I am not in the market right now unless a mini that was a really good match of one of mine were available. Even then I have a lot of equipment to get first. I was just wondering if I did find a...

    A team

How do you go about choosing a team mate for your horse? I know that temperament, stride, and size are most important, but how do you go about finding a horse with a similar stride as your horse without actually getting them together? Just eye ball it? Any tips?

    Team in a cart

Thanks, I sort of thought that it wouldn't be quite right. In my mind it was just not working out even. I am working with a trainer and he does mostly teams. I have been toying with the idea of getting a wagon, so that probably is the way I will go. I don't actually have a team yet. I have a...

    Team in a cart

Well my subject basically said it all. I got a taste of driving a team of Haffies. Oh my gosh was that fun! I would love to drive a team of minis. Of course I really want a wagon, but since my shaft of my easy entry cart broke I went back to the Sugar Rock Farm and noticed that they have a pole...

    first driving lesson

I applaud you for wanting to try it again. I agree with the others that your trainer was not to smart to just put you in a cart in an open area. As my trainer told me when I called him up for lessons and told him that I had been riding all my life, he said, "Good just enough knowledge to be...
