Thank you for all the thoughts🙏🏼she’s such a fighter I’m a mess I’ve barely slept. My mare did not go with her she’s fine recovering well after quite a health scare with her as well. She’s a maiden and she did walk up to nuzzle her baby for a split second after birth but was very consumed by...

My mare went into labor yesterday at about 3pm 303 at days, I didn’t feel it was time she had no signs no bagging really so I called my vet to please come, he was about an hour out, the white membrane appeared which made me happy to see that but then realizing within a few minutes it was a nose...

Well, here’s one I just took she’s a maiden she doesn’t have a great udder yet but she’s had multiple fetal viability blood tests because of her placentitis so we know she has a baby in there. Should I still rely on udder for a maiden??

Thank you and yes I do realize that and I’m so terrified. If I see a red bag I’m to immediately cut through it reach in a pull the foal out correct? I should not wait for contractions, pushing nothing? Please advise🙏🏼thanks again

I’m going to keep her on them until she goes into labor but no I’ve never heard of any issues with colostrum or anything relating to the baby it’s a safe antibiotic and the whole reason they use it for placentitis is because it’s one of the few antibiotics that crosses the placenta barrier from...

Ok I got so scared I ran to the barn and started her back on SMZ I feel like I don’t want to be sorry😭

This is how her udder looks right now. Do you agree if she stays small like this and very gradually progresses that it’s probably OK? I feel like with placentitis it would start getting big again really fast ugh I hate the worry it’s torture. I have the antibiotics I could start her at any time...

I actually heard that too and my vet disagreed with me saying that he’s never done that in any case, but I’m leaning towards what you are saying because I’ve read that as well. I think the reason he had me take her off them is she got placentitis extremely early on in comparison to what’s...

Ok I’m so nervous my mare is 283 days and based on my new photo i think she’s starting to bag up. Keep in mind she was on an antibiotic for 90 days for placentitis based on udder distention which completely resolved with treatment. She’s a maiden mare do you think starting to bag now is normal...
