    Yellow milk

How yellow? Is it actually opaque like milk or is it yellow tinged clear fluid? Colostrum is more yellow colour but it is definitely a milky opaque colour. Once the milk changes, it's 12 - 24 hours. Double checking with a pH test to see if it's dropped would also be a good indicator.

My pregnant mini 334 days could it be any day x

When you're having your best sleep or have to go to town for groceries, that's when she'll have it.

    Driving Discussion 2024

What a busy couple of weeks it's been! My mom, who lives on the farm, we live 10 minutes' drive away, was away visiting her sisters. I got to do all the farm chores myself. I'm glad to do it, that's not an issue, it's just a lot when working full time, single parenting a teen and trying to prep...

    2024 Hours Driven

Saturday Phillippe and I drove for an hour! Yesterday he took my daughter's friend around for her first drive and then I got to take the lines. About a half hour total.

My arena is finally dry! I got to go out for a drive with Jasmine's leasor and Phillippe to work in the arena and it was so fun! We traded little for a bit and I really had a blast with fancy little Jazzy pony. She's so agile and game to go. I just love how maneuverable she is. And she picked...

    Boardjoring

You are the coolest chick ever! I thought I was pretty cool in my 40's going for my black belt in taekwondo in June, riding a crotch-rocket motorcycle and driving little around, but I got nothing on you girl!!

    I Did a Thing...

We just keep going at it. Yesterday the only animal of mine I got to put hands on was Falcor. And he took all my time. I figured I was going to try to throw EVERYTHING at him. Not literally and not in an aggressive manner either. I mean that I was going to try to do everything with him to...

They each grow in their own way. It's hard to say what's appropriate without a side view at the pastern angle and how it comes from the hoof wall. The angle should match. Sometimes that means the heel should be pretty low, sometimes the hoof needs to be far more upright.

    2024 Hours Driven

    Finished 4 ear bonnet designs

They almost look like little toques! I'm considering having one custom made for Phillippe. I need to take a zillion measurements of his precious ears.

    2024 Hours Driven

Wednesday I sent Ail and her friend out for a good half hour or so with Jasmine and Willy. Ali hasn't driven her pony in months and months! We have Jasmine leased to an awesome lady who loves that pony and Ali's just far more focused on her big riding mare. Ali's friend had never driven before...

    My pregnant mare

Not necessarily... I had a maiden who barely got an udder at all. She did not produce milk well and we had to supplement that colt quite a lot. I won't breed her again because of that. Others will bag up and milk like a dairy cow. Each is different.

    My pregnant mare

I don't get the impression she's quite done yet. My recommendation is the same every year: Check the fluid from the udder. Express some and test the pH. You will see a drop 12 - 24 hours prior to foaling and it will change from yellow clear to a thicker, white fluid (milk). Not everyone is...

    Driving Discussion 2024

My daughter actually had the inclination to drive her pony last night. Jasmine pony had the zoomies and Ali wasn't about to deter her from that at all! Her good friend and classmate was at the farm when we got up there last night and I offered her friend to drive One-Eye-Willy for her first...

    Driving Discussion 2024

Phillippe seems to have a sore back foot again. This happened previously over the winter and really stumped me what's happening. I suspect now he's got some bruising from the road. We haven't been going far on the road yet, but I haven't been putting his road boots on either. I think that's...
